Number Day in Year 6

In year 6, the children became card factory workers for their evil boss Mrs Wales who split them in to teams but gave them all different equipment to start the task so that some had an unfair advantage. Their job was to make card templates with specific dimensions which then had to be tested by quality control. If they passed, then they were paid the ‘going rate’. Their aim was to raise as much money as possible through making sensible choices about how to barter with other teams and when to sell their products to maximise their profit margins! This was an interactive, collaborative  way of getting the children to begin to understand the concept of ‘Fair Trade.’
