Key Project Food Bank Visit by School Council

On Monday 15th January 2018, members of our School Council, with Mrs Simpson and Mrs Quinn, visited the Key Project Food Bank. The Key Project helps young people in need by giving them food parcels which people have donated. As a school this year we donated our Harvest Festival produce to this charity.
During our visit to the food bank, the school council were shown around to see all of the different types of donated food and the volunteers explained what happens at the food bank. Next, the children sorted bags of food into labelled boxes, writing the best before dates onto the tops of tins/packets. Once the bags had been sorted, the children followed a list and put together bags of food which were given to a young man called Liam after we had left.
We found it very interesting to see ‘behind the scenes’ of this charity and the children enjoyed sorting the foods.
