On Sunday our girls football team went to watch Newcastle V Barnsley women’s game where not only did they watch the game, they were actually mascots for the day. This meant they were given autograph sheets and received signatures from the whole team before the game – they were given time to play on the pitch before kick off as well.
Just before kick off they lined up and waited for the Newcastle players to come out of the changing rooms where they walked onto the pitch with the Newcastle team and took part in the respect handshake with the Barnsley players and their mascots.
Once the game kicked off the girls became ballgirls for the duration of the game.
After the game Newcastle United captain Brooke Cochrane took the time to take individual photographs with the girls and have a chat with them.
All of the girls were impeccably behaved and were a huge credit to me, their parents and the school.
Thank you to the girls and their supportive families for giving up a Bank holiday Sunday afternoon to take part in the match yesterday. Mr Gilmore.
