Daily Routines – From March 8th

Information about daily routines following the return to school on Monday 8th March

We are really excited to now welcome all children back to school on Monday 8th March. We have had 50% of the school in attendance during Lockdown 3 but it is now so lovely to be able to invite all children back to school. All children of school age should return to school on the 8th March 2021. If they are not returning you should let the school office know, although it is statutory that children from reception through to year 6 to attend school again. The children will be expected to wear school uniform.

All children will be kept in their own year groups where possible. They will be with their year groups throughout the day and will be separated at playtimes and lunchtimes from other year groups. They will wash their hands or sanitise each time they enter and exit the classrooms. There will be no assemblies or school gatherings of more than one year group. They will follow the systems in place around the school once they have been shown them and reminded.

Communication will be via telephone, email, parent mail and social media. There will be no face to face meetings unless prior arrangements have been made.

Please ensure we have up to date contact information for each child you have in school. This is really important as we return to school.

Please can we ask that you respect social distancing at drop off and pick up time. Staff will be on the doors to receive and pass over children. Once you have let your child go into school or have picked them up please move away from the pick up or collection area so that transition times can run smoothly.

If your child is in year 5 or 6 please send an email or letter so we know you give permission for them to walk home by themselves if you have not already done this.

Children have their own resource packs in classes. They are working in books from year 1 to 6 which do not leave the classrooms. The teachers will mark the books in the classrooms and they will not leave the rooms. Any resources that leave the classrooms will be sanitised. Resources within each class do not have to be sanitised unless they leave the rooms such as exercise books, dictionaries. Shared PE equipment will be sanitised between year groups using it. Any playtime equipment will be given to class year groups for their own use.

Masks do not need to be worn by children but staff will wear them in communal areas where there it is not possible to social distance or may in certain circumstances choose to wear them to protect themselves. All parents must wear masks on school premises. Hand washing and sanitisation stations are in place for when children return to school. Corridors are marked as children are still expected to social distance where possible.

KS 1 classes will change in their classrooms for PE as they normally do. KS 2 children will use the changing rooms accessing them using the shown route. PE kits stored in boxes in classrooms for KS 1 and hall for KS 2. They need plimsolls or trainers which can be used outdoors. Please make sure if you took your PE kit home you return it to school.

If your child becomes ill they will be taken to the First Aid room and we will contact you to come and pick them up if we feel this is necessary. We will be taking temperatures if children become unwell. We will contact you and ask you to come to collect your child as soon as possible. Please do not send children into school who are presenting with any symptoms of Covid 19.

The well-being of all our pupils is extremely important to us and we will be working with them to ensure any anxieties are addressed. In individual cases additional support will be offered if it is required. Questionnaires will be administered again asking the children about their thoughts and feelings on the return to school. The curriculum will focus on well -being and during the return week we have some lovely events including World Book Day, World Maths Day and science week. There will be catch up work done by pupils where necessary. Homework will out be given out until after the Easter holiday but there may be some cases where we ask children to do catch up work.

A full copy of our Risk Assessment in line with Corporate Local Authority Health and Safety is available on request.

Packed Lunches can be sent into school and will be stored sensibly. Please wipe the bags over each morning and night when they come home so they are kept clean. Water bottles can be sent into school and will remain in the classrooms. Please ensure they are washed and cleaned thoroughly each morning and night before they come into school. No other belongings must be sent into school unless a member of staff has requested them. Information will be sent out about homework and reading books once school commences and will be issued using Google Classroom..

If a mobile phone is required as a safety measure for the journey to and from school it must be handed to the class teacher as soon as your child comes into school, there are safeguarding reasons for this.

We understand that some parents have multiple pick up gates. We will not let your child go unless we have permission to do so. The staff know and understand some parents/carers have multiple pick ups. Nursery parents will pick up at 3.30pm to allow the children to access the correct hours of provision unless you have siblings in the main school where an earlier collection can be arranged on request with the nursery staff.

Breakfast club and after school club will operate and should be booked through the normal procedure. There may be mixing of pupils in after school club but the school will have a track of which pupils should we have any cases of Covid 19. We will be following the advice set out by the DFE around after-school clubs.

These systems will be under constant review and we will keep you updated of any changes. Once we have the systems live with yourselves and the children involved we may have to change some things.

Thank you and we are looking forward to seeing you on Monday 8th March 2021.
