People who help us!
In Acorn class we have learnt all about people who help us.
Firefighters – We talked about how they help us and what equipment they need to do their special jobs. We shared the story – Charlie the Firefighter. Mason D and Corey labelled and coloured in some fabulous fire engines. Mason W used his sounds and wrote sentences about firefighters. Well done Mason! Your handwriting is improving!
Nurses – A school nurse came in to take our heights, she told us how nurses care and help people when they are poorly. Nurses are very caring people. We learnt about what equipment they need to help people.
We learn about the teachers who helped us in school.
In Acorn’s Hospital Mason was looking after Lennox, he was giving him medicine for a headache and upset stomach.

Science – Senses
We are learning about our Five Senses. We made some popcorn. We used our senses. We used our eyes to look at the popcorn popping, used our noses to smell, ears to listen to the popping and best of all our sense of taste to taste the popcorn. It was yummy!!!

We completed the yoghurt and food colouring experiment. Mrs Addison tried to trick the children and put different food colouring in yoghurt, exploring the science of flavour perception, demonstrating how visual cues influence taste. We found out that all the yoghurts were actually the same flavour. Lucas thought the yoghurt with pink food colouring was strawberry and Mason W thought the yoghurt with the yellow food colouring in, was banana. They were shocked when they were found out all the yoghurts were the same flavour, vanilla.

St Patrick’s Day
We celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day. We shared the story of Curious George, dressed up and had lots of fun creating three-leaf clovers, Irish hats and rainbows with pots of gold. We had lots of fun.
