Autumn Term 2 in Acorn Class

We joined in school celebrations wearing crazy hair and wigs and discussed being good friends.

We continue every week to learn about our British Values – democracy and do our book voting for PSHE.

Tides of Change came into class and Sandra was so lovely to teach about the safety of fire and how to make “smores.” They were delicious.

For Bonfire night we made tasty sparklers using breadsticks and Catherine Wheels out of biscuits we had lots of fun decorating them and eating them mmm.

Weekly handwriting practice.

We have enjoyed playing with orbeez after we watched the chemical change from hard little balls to soft squidgy enlarged balls making sensory and science lots of fun.

 We have been learning how to “fold” and “link” paper and count the different number of chains. It has been lost of fun.

We have been enjoying PE joining in with our friends from different year group’s learning about balancing.

We celebrated remembrance day thinking about the soldiers, veterans and animals in the war and enjoyed all our activities.

Santa’s workshop has arrived at Acorn class. Santa has asked for help and is using Acorn class as his little Elves. From “Design” area to “Assembly,” then to “quality check,” next to “pack and wrap” to “loading bay” and “dispatch” area. Santa will be over the moon and we are even helping map out his route from the North Pole.

In science we have been learning about changeable seasons and we also linked our music lessons with Vivaldi’s “four seasons.”

We have enjoyed continuing our sensory diet which we do daily.

We had lots of fun exploring the snow, making snow angels and snowmen and having a nice hot chocolate with blankets to warm up.

As part of our understanding and knowledge of the World and after Mrs Addison’s daughter got married the children decided they would like to have a wedding of their own. They planned and organised a pretend wedding at St Simon’s church. A big thank you to Reverend Andrew for celebrating our pretend wedding making it a memorable day.

World Kindness day was a great way to share with our friends how much we appreciate everyone.

Continuing our Yoga on a Friday which is important for our physical and mental wellbeing we enjoy stretching and trying out different moves and a relaxation at the end of our “Cosmic Kids” yoga remembering our special word “Namaste”.
