During the Christmas holidays, Mrs Simpson visited a warehouse at Felling which belongs to Borderline books and was able to choose approx 100 books to bring back to school to help stock our library and classrooms. Borderline Books was the first project of the Kittiwake Trust, set up in the Netherlands in 2021 and became a registered non-profit organization and moved to Gateshead in 2009.
The aim of the project is to save books from destruction – whether by publishers, libraries, charity shops or readers and redistribute them free of charge to disadvantaged and marginalized groups (local schools, prisons, holiday projects, refugees etc). Mrs Simpson choose non fiction books for class topics, such as the Egyptians and the Romans, but also got books about Minecraft and Lego plus some lovely new fiction books.
We will share the books throughout the school and put some into the library. Hopefully Mrs Simpson will be able to go back and get more books at some point soon.
Thank you to Borderline Books for our new books!
