Sam’s Sunflower

Our Three Year Old Nursery children have been learning all about planting and growing and the life cycle of a sunflower. We read a story called ‘Sams Sunflower’and the children were facinated by the tiny bee in the story. We talked about how important bees are to help flowers and plants grow and that the nectar they collect as they fly from flower to flower, is used to make honey to feed their babies. We celebrated National Bee Day in Forest School by hunting for bees then making our own bees. We wrapped black wool around our bees using our fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. We then collected yellow buttercups to decorate our bees with and used feathers for the wings. Its was quite fiddly and we had to concentrate and not give up!!! 🌻 🐝
