Active Uniform – Not Compulsory but an option
We have taken the decision to change our school uniform to an active uniform, meaning a more PE kit style approach. It looks really smart.
This decision has been made after consultation with the poverty protection team in South Tyneside who are actively encouraging this.
The change supports a more affordable school day as well as enhancing teaching and learning time for the children as there will be no need to change for PE lesson, as a direct result there will be less need to replace lost clothing.
This change is live for September 2026 where our active uniform will be available to purchase if you wish from https://bolampremiersportswear.co.uk/lordblyton/. However please note the change is not compulsory until September 2027. The other uniform is still available to buy and can be worn in school.
We will be using Bolam’s Premier Sportswear as our official supplier for our active uniform. There will be an online shop, with a specific Lord Blyton section where all our uniform will be available to buy. You can also visit the shop to purchase or check sizes. The address for Bolam’s is: Rekendyke Industrial Estate, 1C Eldon St, South Shields NE33 5BZ.
You will need to open an online account in order to access the club shop. To do this, just follow the guide on the right-hand side of the screen. Place your email into the register box, and you will then be sent a link to set up a password. Once that password is set, you can then log in to the shop.
Below is a guide to what will be available to buy. Please note the compulsory and non- compulsory options:

Faraon 1/4 zip – royal – Includes school embroidered badge – Adult £20.50 – Junior £17.00

Optional Items –
Nobel shorts – colour black – Adult £6.30 – Junior £5.60

Olimpia leggings – colour black – Adult £23.10 – Junior £21.00
School embroidered badge – £3.00 (badge would not go onto leggings but school name can be printed)
Initials on any items – £0.60 per letter.
You can just wear any black leggings or shorts.
We are not saying you have to buy this uniform we are just giving parents the choice.
It does mean that the children will be comfortable in school and do not need to change for PE.
Other schools in South Tyneside have gone down this route and it looks very smart and comfortable.
Alternative Uniform for 2026
- Royal Blue sweatshirt
- Yellow polo shirt
- Royal blue fleece and/or reversible fleece jacket or plain school coat
- Royal blue book bag
- Black skirt/pinafore/trousers
- Black tights
- Blue/yellow gingham dresses and black shorts may be worn in the summer term
Footwear
Black school shoes with flat heel or plain black trainers. Canvas, soft style casual shoes are not allowed. Boots are not appropriate footwear for school. If it is a wet or cold day and your child needs to wear wellies or warm boots to travel to school, please make sure they have normal school shoes or plimsolls to change into.
P.E. and Sportswear
For PE all children need:
- Small drawstring bag
- White t-shirt
- Black PE shorts
- Plimsolls
- Upper KS2 will need trainers and possibly jogging bottoms.
Please Note: PE kits should be kept in school at all times and fully named
Swimming
- Towel
- Swim Cap
- Swimming Trunks (Not Surf/Shorts)
- Swimming Costume for Girls
- Swimming hats and verruca socks are available to buy any time from the school office.
Jewellery
On health and safety grounds we do not allow children to wear jewellery in our school.
The exceptions to this rule are plain flat ear-ring studs in pierced ears (no diamante/diamond etc). We ask the children to either remove these objects during PE and games, or cover them with a plaster, to prevent them from causing injury.

Extreme haircuts
The school does not permit children to have ‘extreme’ haircuts (shaved patterns into hair etc) that could serve as a distraction to other children, as they are not in keeping with the ethos of the school. This includes patterns shaved into the hair and false hair pieces. The definition of an extreme haircut is at the discretion of the head teacher. These type of cuts are not allowed in comprehensive/senior schools.
Make up and Cosmetics
No make up or nail varnish is to be worn in school.
Book Bags
New book bags can be purchased from the school office.
