Science in Year 3

This half term, we have been exploring plants. We have looked at the parts of a flowering plant and discussed their functions. Today, we investigated how water is transported around a plant. We set up an experiment using celery and food dye. We looked at the tiny tubes in a plants stem (xylem) and are going to observe over time to see what happens when a stem is immersed in water. We felt like ‘super scientists’ using the terms photosynthesis, transpiration and osmosis.
