Science Week in Year 5

It has been a busy Science week in Year 5. The children have taken part in an invention competition with Dogger Bank and South Tyneside Council to design something to help nature.

They also took part in an interview with an engineer before taking part in the Leaders Award where they had to design an invention to answer the question – “If you were an engineer what would you do?”

They also investigated the power of team work by working in teams of 4 to draw a flower accurately from an image on the screen. They all had to hold onto a peg attached to a pen and for the first minute they were not allowed to talk

Then, Year 5 took part in a competition to see who could make a flying contraption that would fly the longest and stay in the air for the longest. Edris won the competition for the last person standing on the first competition of who could fly the longest, but Lennon’s plane flew the longest overall.
