After obtaining some funding from Lidl, Year 3 took part in a ‘Lidl Foodies’ taste testing challenge alongside making ‘seasonal tarts’ as part of our D.T. work. We discussed climate zones and why foods grow well in certain places and during the different seasons. We looked at the foods that grow in each of the four seasons in the U.K. and decided that the summer selection was our favourite. We tasted a range of different fruits and vegetables and described them using words like sweet, sour, savoury, hot, hard, soft etc. We then designed, made (and ate!) our seasonal tarts. We were impressed with ourselves for trying new things and for being adventurous. We used a range of preparation skills like peeling, chopping, dicing and deseeding. The tasting was definitely our favourite part!
