Year 3 Science-Investigating Shadows

Today, Year 3 planned and carried out a practical investigation to test the size of a shadow. We considered how a shadow may change in size depending upon how far away the object is from the light source. To make it a fair test, we considered the variables that we would keep the same and those that we would change. We used our observational skills and recorded our findings in a table of results. We concluded that the closer an object is to the light source, the bigger the shadow. We used the terms opaque, translucent and transparent and also talked about reflection. We are proud to be superstar scientists!
