This year the theme is ‘Fieldwork for Everyone’ which encourages inclusivity. It celebrates the varied and evolving nature of geography.
Year 4 followed a fieldwork plan from the Geographical Association where the children investigated habitats in our school grounds. It enabled the children to develop a range of fieldwork and mapping skills and facilitated pupils’ knowledge and understanding of features of the school grounds and the range of habitats it provides for many different insects and creatures. The children visited our Forest School area, the raised planter area, the secret garden and outside of the classrooms. They read then followed their maps of the school grounds, worked out coordinates of the areas and recorded what living creatures they could find in these different habitats.
