Year 4 were incredibly lucky today to have a visit from 5 ex miners from the Harton and Westoe Miners Heritage Group. The ex coal miners spoke to the children about their first hand experience as miners in the past in our local area. They brought real mining equipment for the children to try on, answered many questions and even gave us a beautiful statue made from coal to keep for our display in school plus a special pin badge from their miner’s society.
