Year 5 have been making their own water filters from rocks, pasta, rice, couscous, sand and cotton wool. They didn’t have to use them all, but had to decide what would work well to filter the water. They used their previous knowledge from the lesson on sieving to work out how to arrange their chosen items to best filter the water. Then they tested their water filter by pouring muddy water through it. The results were not great!
