Year 5 have been looking at why we have night and day and the seasons. They used a polystyrene ball on a skewer to simulate the tilt and rotation of the Earth. Then they used a torch to simulate the sun’s light to see where it was night and where it was day when the “Earth” was rotated. They looked at a model of the Earth going round the Sun to see why we have seasons. Then using a website, they found out what time it was in diffferent places on Earth and whether it was day or night.
