As part of our learning about Spring and new life the Three Year Old Nursery children read a lovely story about an oak seed and egg called ‘Pip and Egg’ This linked to our previous learning about planting and growing, baby animals and life cycles of plants and animals.  We hunted in Forest school for little chicks who had hatched from eggs and counted how many we had found by using our finger to touch count, saying one number name in the right order for each chick.  then created our own beautiful eggs using our fine motor skills to wrap elastic bands around cardboard eggs which we then decorated with natural treasures and signs of spring which we found in Forest school such as catkins leaves flower and buds.
