Year 4 History- Coal mining This afternoon Year 4 had 4 ex-miners from Harton and Westoe Miners Heritage Society visit. The children asked the visitors questions which they had prepared about what it had been like to work as a miner. The children got to try on actual mining gear and saw photos and artefacts from the coal mines. We were so lucky to be given our own mining lamp to keep in school as a reminder of their visit. ... Year 3 Science- Investigating shadows. Today in year 3, we carried out an investigation to find out if the distance of a light source affects the size of a shadow. We thought about how to make a fair test, which variables we would change and which we would keep the same. We recorded our results in a table and made conclusions based upon our findings.
