Our 3 Year Old Nursery children have been learning about flowers and bees. They planted sunflower seeds, which we will watch grow and change. We talked about the different parts of a plant. We read the story 'The Tiny Seed' by Eric Carl then pretended to be busy bees flying from colourful chalked flower to flower collecting pollen on a piece of cotton wool as we listened to the music 'The flight of the Bumble Bee' We went to Forest School to search for different types of flower and found daisies, dandelions, apple blossom, bluebells and elderflower. Our 3 Year Old Nursery children enjoyed a visit to Forest School to help Farmer Bob find his missing animals when he fell asleep in the story 'Fergus the Farmyard Dog' and left the farm gate open. The only clue the children had was the sound each animal makes. They had to listen carefully to the sound then work out which animal it was from the sound and then search in the bushes and trees to find the correct animal from a selection. Once we had found them all the children used sticks to create a fence around the animals so they couldn't escape again.
