This week in the 3 year old nursery we have been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. On Tuesday we received a letter from the butterfly telling us that he had laid some eggs on a leaf and they would soon hatch into caterpillars. The butterfly has asked us to take great care of her caterpillars and watch them as they continue their life cycle and change into butterflies. The caterpillars arrived today and we are very excited to take great care of them. We talked about some of the different foods that’s the caterpillar ate in the story that some of us haven’t tried before. We all took part in a little tasting session and tried pickles, salami, watermelon and Swiss cheese. We then thought about what words and vocabulary we could use to describe the look, smell and taste of the different foods. Some of us really enjoyed it while others weren’t quite so sure ❤️️💚🧀🥒🍉
