Our new Design and Technology unit is Structures – Bridges. During this unit we are going to be investigating how different shapes affect the strength of a bridge. This week we looked at beam and arch bridges and created a range of beam and arch bridges and tested their strength by seeing how many pens or pencils they could hold. We also explored how to reinforce a beam to improve its strength through corrugation.
