Year 5 visited the Openzone at The Word in South Shields. The day began by creating algorithms to be used with small microcontrollers called Crumbles. Pupils used these to control LED lights and motors. Later, pupils used Lego Spike equipment to build and program a robot that could sense different colours and identify each colour by playing a different sound, before finally building and coding a robot that could jump around the room.
