Year 5 have been investigating whether substances are acidic, neutral or alkaline by testing the substance with litmus paper. We tested a range of substances including water, soap, washing up liquid, vinegar and lemon juice. The results in some cases surprised us, with water which we expected to be pH7 or neutral, coming up as pH6 or slightly acidic!
