Colouring Club

Today some of the year 4 and year 5 children have been to the lunchtime colouring club.

We listened to meditation music whilst colouring and all had a lovely relaxing break.

Our fantastic Lord Blyton STEM club have been working hard to make moving vehicles as part of a Primary Engineer project. Children from our club took part in a celebration event at Sunderland University on Friday. They took their completed vehicles to the event and had to test and demonstrate their STEM skills against a number of other schools from across the borough. The children met with real life engineers and had to talk about their participation in the project, what they thought they had done well with their cars and what they would do to improve on their models to make them even more impressive (if that is possible!). The children had to present their work to a panel of judges and had to stand up in from of a large audience to show off their skills. Some of our children even had to do this on their own which was highly commendable! The children did themselves and our school proud, scooping awards, trophies and certificates for Winners of Apprentice Level build (Nevaeh and Tommy) and Best Engineer Level Communicators (Jude and Lily) – Well done! All of the children that took part were absolutely fantastic and were commented upon by the event organisers for their hard work and outstanding achievements. As Thurston was cancelled at the last minute this year through no fault of anyone we had some days out. This is a day in Newcastle carrying out a City Scavenger Hunt.
