Nursery 3’s Geography Fieldwork

As part of the Fieldwork Festival the children in Nursery read the story ‘The Treasure Hunt’ by Nick Butterworth. In the back of the story was an envelope with a letter inside inviting the children to take part in a Treasure Hunt in and around school. The children had to follow a trail of picture clues to lead them to the treasure, just like the story. The children worked with a partner and looked carefully at each picture to work out where to go next. After following all the clues we eventually ended up in Forest School where the children found the treasure …silver (chocolate) coins!!!! The children are starting to recognise familiar places in their environment and to use directional and positional language which all helps with their mapping skills and spacial awareness 🗺 ⬆
